PURPOSE:To treat efficiently the underwater sludge with a small-sized treating structural body by sending air into the bottom part of the underwater sludge treating structural body to float the sludge, injecting quick lime and slaked lime and then fermentation filamentous fungi, and continuing the aeration. CONSTITUTION:A steel deck 12 is provided to the top part of the second partitioned tank 8, and an air compressor 10 and a motor 11 for driving the compressor are furnished on the deck. The air is blown in from air nozzles 4, and the foamy air rises along inclined wall surfaces 2. Although the level of a sludge tank rises to the upper part of metallic baskets 7, the sludge layer is circulated as shown by the arrow due to the downward flow of the fluid. Although the sludge layer is floated, circulated, and mixed in this way, the sludge is insulated from the outside by the first or the second partition wall 1. Accordingly, the flowing or the overflowing of the sludge treating bodies into the outside seawater can be prevented, and the treatment is smoothly carried out.
