PURPOSE:To prevent ultraviolet-ray setting resin from running down even if optical fiber manufacture is stopped temporarily by providing an auxiliary ultraviolet lamp in front of each ultraviolet lamp for a buffer layer and a unit jacket. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 2 sent from bobbins 7 are gathered by a ferrule 8 around a tensile strength body 1 such as a stainless wire from a sending machine 6, and the optical fibers 2 are coated with liquid ultraviolet-ray setting resin from a supplying device 9. They are further coated similarly by using a supplying device 10, the section is made nearly circular by a drawing ferrule 11, and then the optical fibers 2 are irradiated by an ultraviolet lamp 12 for a buffer layer to set the coating liquid. A supply device 13 applies liquid ultraviolet-ray setting resin for a unit jacket, the section is made circular by a drawing ferrule 14, and the liquid is set by an ultraviolet lamp 15 for the unit jacket. Further, auxiliary ultraviolet lamps 18 and 20 for the buffer layer are provided in front of the lamp 12 and ultraviolet lamps 21 and 23 for the unit jacket are provided in front of the lamp 15 to perform ultraviolet-ray irradiation when the optical fibers are stopped temporarily.
