PURPOSE:To improve the recognizing rate by using a pattern including a specific category based on the result of recognition to an input pattern to study the recognized dictionary thereby studying effectively the recognized dictionary offered for pattern recognition. CONSTITUTION:The recognition dictionary stored in a dictionary storage section 4 is studied and updated according to the result of recognition. A study input category deciding section 7 inputs command information or the like for the result of recognition obtained by a recognizing section 3 and the propriety of a pattern input personnel to the result of recognition and decides the category to be studied based on it. A studying section 8 uses a pattern inputted in response to the input request and studies the recognition dictionary registered by a dictionary storage section 4 to update it. Thus, the dictionary pattern is made suited to the pattern input personnel.
