PURPOSE:To load a recording medium cassette to a prescribed position securely and safely by giving a lead-in operation by means of a drive means after a cassette is inserted with a manual operation, and then, by composing to increase holding force for the cassette. CONSTITUTION:In a position just in front where a free end of a board spring 34 is regulated by a regulation part 36 of a cassette holder 7 when a cassette 2 is inserted, the position of a cassette 2 when the rotation of a loading motor 19 is started is different from the position of a cassette 2 when the rotation of a loading motor 19 is stopped at the position where a cassette 2 is sufficiently discharged from the exterior part of the recorder or regenerator. By setting such a position relation, the lead-in operation is started in the condition in which a cassette 2 is sufficiently inserted, and at the time of discharging by making the manually taking-out operation easier, an unreasonable force is not given to a cassette holder 7, therefore, a damage can be prevented.
