A grinding machine for grinding or rasping rubber fabrications 2 comprises a conveyor belt 1, which carries the rubber fabrications in under a grinding drum 3, a support surface 14, which is freely moveable - within set limits - towards the grinding drum and which is supported by at least one means that strives to press the surface 14 towards the grinding drum 3, is fitted under the conveyor belt 1 in the area under the grinding drum 3 at a distance therefrom. The means consist, for example, of one or more cylindrical bellows 13, which centrally support the surface 14. The pressure in the cylindrical bellows takes the form of compressed air from a compressed air line 23 at essentially constant pressure. Fitted beneath the conveyor belt 1 and immediately in front of the support surface 14 in the conveying direction, is a pivotally supported 7 guide plate 6, one side of which is carried to the support surface 14 through a semi-spherical surface 12, which is fixed to the support surface 14 by way of a fishplate or an angle piece 9. This provides a grinding machine, which is particularly well suited to grinding rubber fabrications in such a way that it removes neither too little nor too much material from the fabrication during the machining. The grinding apparatus can also adjust entirely automatically to differences in the thickness of the rubber fabrication, without this adversely affecting the quantity of the grinding. <IMAGE>
