PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a piston by detecting a reaction force which is applied to the piston and activating a direction control valve according to the detected value so as to make the reaction force of a screw shaft zero. CONSTITUTION:A direction control valve mechanism 9 is separated from a piston 2 and a sensor 24 detecting a reaction force which is applied to the piston 2 is provided for a screw shaft 5. The direction control valve 9 is activated according to the output shaft from the sensor to regulate the fluid pressure applied to both the side faces of the piston 2, thereby making the reaction force of the screw shaft 5 zero. Resultantly, the size of the piston 2 may be reduced and the strokes of the piston 2 and a rod 3 be elongated.
