PURPOSE:To put a cam shaft close to a valve and reduce the captioned device in its size by providing, on the cam face of the cam shaft, a slotted groove to adjust an adjusting screw and a lock nut located on the tip of a locker arm which opens and closes an intake/exhaust valve. CONSTITUTION:The cam 4 of a cam shaft 3 is provided on the upper part of a locker arm 2, one end of which is fitted to a locker shaft 1 so as to sway freely. Sway of the locker arm 2 caused by the cam 4 puts an intake/exhaust valve 5 in opening/closing through an adjusting screw 6 located on the tip of said arm 2. Further, a slotted groove 9 is provided on the cam face of the cam 4 within a range not reaching the side of the cam face. A part of the space 8 for a tool to enter at the time of adjusting the adjusting screw 6 and a lock nut 7 is formed by provision of the slotted groove 9. Thus, the cam shaft 3 is put closer to the valve 5 side by as much space as the slotted groove 9 forms, and reduction of the locker arm 2 and the cylinder in their size and weight can be achieved. |
