PURPOSE:To provide adjustability for the refrigerating capacity of a compressor to any desired value from outside by controlling the expansion/contraction effect of a shape memory alloy, installed inside the compressor, by means of current, and by opening and closing the refrigerant path using said effect. CONSTITUTION:Turning a switch 69 on causes impression of voltage to a coil spring 54 made of a shape memory alloy, which emits heat and raises its temp. by its own electric resistance. When this temp. rise exceeds the transfer point, the spring 54 will contract to cause movement of a spool 52 to the left. The discharge side Pd is put in communication with the back pressure part 51 of a main balve 25 through paths 71, 65, 72 and 73, and a spool 45 moves to the right against the action of a compression spring 46. This will shut a suction hole 17 to lead to suppression of the refrigerating capacity.
