In order to facilitate the division of vehicles onto different decks (10, 11) on a roll-on roll-off ferry, each deck is equipped with an opening (16), which is connected to a platform (17, 18) that can receive a number of vehicles. The entrance deck (10) is equipped with a device (36, 37) and shaped so that the associated platform (17) can be fixed in a position level with the deck, and in a countersunk position under the corresponding depth of a platform. If there is a loading deck (12) under the entrance deck (10) the opening is equipped in above this current deck (11) so that a platform can be kept there in two alternative positions. Fore and respective rear of the opening in the entrance deck (10) respective present deck (11) there are parking areas (20, 21, respectively 22, 23) which together have the same capacity as a platform. In order to manoeuvre the platforms under vertical movement there are a number of vertical guides (30) along every long side of the opening (16), and in each platform there is a synchronisation device which operates with the guides and holds the platform in a horizontal position. The compressed air source is comprised of a large tank (24) fed by a number of compressors (25). The tank can, via hoses and valves (26-29) be selectively placed in connection with the area under the platform which is to be moved.<IMAGE> |
