<p>Prepn. of a stable emulsion base comprises reacting, at room temp., and with high-frequency agitation, stoichiometric amts. of (a) an cellulosic ether (I) and (b) an oxyethylenic ester of a non-satd. fatty acid (II), (I) being pref. high-density methylcellulose in a 0.92% gel emulsion and (II) being pref. oxyethylated oleic acid. The bases are mixed with water to form stable emulsions used as lubricants in the die casting of light, non-ferrous metals and alloys. They are non-toxic and relatively inexpensive.</p> |
