PURPOSE:To obtain a reliable automatic chuck by forming a screwing section continuous from the collet chuck and also by enabling the screwing section to be given a rotational force. CONSTITUTION:A housing 2 is inserted and fixed on a lifting base 1 which can ascend and descend. An outer spindle 3 is inserted into the inside of the housing 2 allowing the outer spindle 3 to rotate. A chuck opening 6 which is inserted, fastened and fixed to the part to be chucked 5 of a workpiece 4 is formed at the lower part of the outer spindle 3, whereas a clutch plate 7 is fixed on the upper part of the outer spindle 3. A considerable length of a screwing section 8 of a workpiece spindle 10 which has the screwing section 8 at the lower end and also has a boss 9 fixed on the upper end, is inserted into the inside of the outer spindle 3, so that the workpiece spindle 10 can ascend, descend and rotate freely. Thus obtained chuck device can perform firm and accurate chucking of the workpiece due to the fitting action of the screwing section as well as the conventional, well-known chucking action. Furthermore, unexpected accident caused by improper chucking of a warkpiece and also damage on the workpiece caused by excessive chucking pressure can be avoided.
