DEVICE FOR DETECTING COMBUSTION CONDITION OF RECIPROCATING INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To enable distinct and exact observation of the combustion condition of gaseous fuel in a combustion chamber under and at high pressure and high temp. by securing airtightly the front end part of an optical fiber penetrated into a mounting fitting by means of a fixing material having high heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 5 is inserted into a mounting fitting 1 so as to penetrate the center of said fitting. The fiber 5 is exposed at the front end part thereof and is positioned in a fixing member 3 where said end is airtightly secured by a heat resistant fixing material 8. A heat resistant packing material 9 is packed between the outside circumference of the fiber 5 and the inside surface of the fitting 1 and further the fiber 5 in a protective tube 4 is fixed by the material 8. The input end 10 of the fiber 5 is in the position where the temp. rises higher than the combustion temp. of soot in this case. Sticking of soot to the fiber is therefore obviated and the combustion condition of gaseous fuel in the combustion chamber at and under high temp. and high pressure is distinctly and securely observed.
