PURPOSE:To aim at increasing the wave drag and sailing of a catamaran, by gradually increasing, in the direction from the bow to the stern, the transverse width of a tunnel formed in the bottom section of the catamaran from the bow to the stern and opened at its bottom surface, and as well by providing hydrofoils on the bow and stern sides, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A tunnel 2 is formed in the bottom section of a hull, extending from the bow to the stern and opened at its bottom. The transverse width of the tunnel 2 is gradually increased from the middle section of the hull to the stern. Further, hydrofoils 3a, 3b are disposed in the lower section of the tunnel 2 in positions near to the bow and the stern, respectively. The shape of the tunnel is such that the transverse width of the tunnel is gradually increased toward the stern, and therefore, the wave resistance and sailing resistance of the catamaran due to water stream passing through the tunnel may be made small. Further, the hull may be floated up by the hydrofoil as the speed of the catamaran is increased. Thus, the wave resistance may be made small, and it is possible to aim at heightening the speed of the catamaran.
