PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a vertical color error by forming a color difference signal which is obtained from an output signal of each horizontal line by single horizontal picture element. CONSTITUTION:In a color solid-state image pickup device which is composed of plural color filters arranged in the horizontal and the verticl directions in correspondence to an interline transfer CCD image pickup element and each picture element of its element, a W color filter is arranged in the first and the third horizontal picture elements l1 and l3, a green filter G and a magenta filter Mg are arranged from the left in order in the horizontal direction at the second and the fourth horizontal picture elements l2 and l4, and a yellor filter Ye' and a cyan filter CY' are arranged by repeating two picture elements and repeated in the vertical direction. Therefore, the color difference signal, which is obtained from respective horizontal lines S(l1+l2)-S(l7+l8), is formed by the single horizontal picture element column, therefore, in even the sharp vertical ring part, the generation of the vertical color error is eliminated.
