PURPOSE:To mass-produce a low cost transfer material by a method wherein a printed film in the form of an arbitrary image is provided on the surface of a releasable metallic layer provided on a base, non-image parts are etched away, and an adhesive is applied to the image part. CONSTITUTION:The image part 6 consisting of an ink film in the form of a desired character, pattern or the like is provided on the surface of the metallic layer 2 by using a printing ink, and an adhesive is applied by printing in register with the image part 6 to provide an adhesive layer 7. The adhesive layer 7 is dried, etched, washed with water and dried. While the metallic layer 2 at the image part 6 (the part coated with the ink film and the adhesive layer 7) is not etched away, the part where the metallic surface is exposed is etched away, whereby only the image part 6 is left with the adhesive layer 7 thereon. Accordingly, a transfer material comprising the image part 6 constituted of the metallic layer 2 can be produced. |
