A brick stacker is provided with gripping arms hydraulically adjustable in their distance apart and provided in pairs. The bottom ends of the gripping arms, which bottom ends belong together in each case, are provided with mutually parallel pressure rails and their angled top ends are guided in a longitudinally displaceable manner in lateral parallel guides of a yoke-like supporting piece. In order to create stops which set the gripping height and can be changed over simply and quickly to different heights, props (18, 19) provided with stops (20) on their bottom sides are guided on opposite sides of the supporting piece (1) in vertical guides (17) at right angles to the parallel guides (2, 3). The top ends of the props (18, 19) project above the guides (17) and are provided with stops (21, 21') which follow one another step-like in accordance with the height and interact with mating stops (12) which are displaceably arranged on the supporting piece (1) and can be locked in positions corresponding to the respective stepped stops. In their top areas, the props (18, 19) are provided with stops (24) which prevent them from slipping through the guides (17) (single figure of the drawing). <IMAGE>
