PURPOSE:To improve the contact of a platen roller and to obtain a thermal head reduced in power consumption, by elongating the interval between an individual selective electrode and a common electrode and connecting several adjacent low resistance parts. CONSTITUTION:Each printing part 9, of which the heat generating resistor layer has high resistance, is connected to an indivisual selective electrode 1 through a low resistance part 10 low in resistance and the low resistance part 10 for connecting the printing part 9 and a common electrode 2 is formed as one pattern 12 in common to plural adjacent printing parts 9. In this case, the structure of a heat generating part is constituted by providing the low resistance parts 10, 12 of the heat generating resistor layer to both sides of the printing part 9. By this mechanism, not only the interval of the indivisual selective electrode 1 and the common electrode 2 becomes long but also the resistance value of the low resistance part 12 is low because plural ones are integrated. When thermal recording paper is sent to a right direction from left, it is preheated by heat generated from the low resistance part 10. Therfore, power required in developing color in the printing part 9 is reduced.
