The invention relates to a dispatch or packing roll for dispatching brochures, placards, posters, literature, samples and the like, consisting of a cylindrical tubular sleeve with closure mechanisms on both sides, which consists of a resilient plastic sleeve, one end of the cylindrical outer surface of which is delimited by a radial surface arranged at right angles thereto, while the outer surface of the cylinder at the other end is closed by a closure which is to be actuated by exerting finger pressure on both sides of the outer surface of the cylinder, this closure having a two-surfaced flattened portion or making a transition into a spheroidal shape which forms two parallel straight lines from the diameter of the circle, as a result of which a slit-like aperture is formed, and each of the straight lines having a length of approximately 40% of the previous diameter of the circle. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing the dispatch roll. The advantage of the dispatch roll according to the invention derives from the fact that the user thereof need waste no time on closing the container, since no screw connection, lid insertion or other laborious closure methods of any kind are required.
