PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid-crystal cell which has reduced unevenness of a cell gap by providing such a double seal wall that a spacer material having a larger diameter than a spacer material mixed with the seal material of an external seal material is mixed with the seal material of an internal seal wall between two glass substrates. CONSTITUTION:Conductive film patterns are provided to the glass substrates 1 and 2 respectively, and those films are overcoated with SiO2 films and then rubbed. Then, the seal wall 7 is formed on one substrate 7 by printing a seal material 6 of epoxy resin, etc., with which glass fiber powder with, for example, a 8mum mean diameter is mixed through a screen, and the seal wall 10 is formed on the other substrate 2 inside the seal wall 7 by using a seal material 9 with which a spacer material 8 of glass fiber powder with a 10mum mean diameter is mixed. Then, the substrate 1 and 2 are pressed against each other from both sides and heated to cake the seal materials 6 and 9. Thus, the liquid-crystal cell 11 having the gap held to 12mu+ or -0.5mum precisely is obtained.
