The press for pressing out batches of material, especially batches of laundry, has an elastic diaphragm, which can be subjected to a pressure medium and which is arranged in a pressure vessel receiving the batch of material, and a counterplate located opposite the diaphragm and intended for closing the orifice of the pressure vessel. The object of the invention is to reduce substantially the technical outlay for a press of the generic type mentioned. For this purpose, there is provided in the pressure vessel and/or the diaphragm at least one perforation which is connected to an offtake line leading outwards. <IMAGE>
