A headlight arrangement is attached fixedly under a front edge (26) of an opening (24) which is provided in a panel (12) of a vehicle body which drops away forwards. The front edge (28) of the opening lies a considerable distance in front of a headlight (38) and is in generally horizontal alignment with a lower edge (41) of the headlight so that the latter lights up the carriageway through the opening. A closure cover (44) is attached to the body (10) of the vehicle so as to be capable of swivelling about a transverse axis and has a first closure face (46) which, matched to the size and shape of the panel of the vehicle body, closes the opening and covers the headlights. When the closure cover is opened, the first closure face is received inside the space (43) between headlight and the front edge of the opening. A second closure face (62) of the cover then assumes a horizontal position and is dimensioned and shaped in such a way that a floor which essentially fills the space between headlight and front edge of the opening is determined. <IMAGE>
