The body panel consists of a sheet-metal blank with pressed reinforcing waves which merge into one another. The reinforcing waves are pressed out of the flat sheet-metal blank in a regular pattern on both sides of its surface and are provided with a depth which corresponds at a maximum to one third of the total thickness (S) of the pressed blank. The maximum diameter (D) of the reinforcing wave (I) corresponds at a maximum to approximately ten times the thickness (S1) of the sheet. <IMAGE>
