A switchable single-phase AC voltage plug socket is described, having a conductor and neutral conductor plug socket arranged in a plug socket base, it being possible to connect the mains voltage to the conductor plug socket via a switching contact. However, according to the invention, the mains voltage is applied only when an electronic control unit has confirmed that no unauthorised human operation has taken place on the plug socket, but that an electrical load has been correctly connected.
