摘要

Solid iron castings are produced by pouring metal into a permanent mould, and leaving it until a skin has been formed capable of holding the shape of the casting. The side-pieces of the mould are then drawn back. While the casting is cooling, the surface of the lower part is reheated, by reducing heat extraction from the surface for the time reqd. for the decompsn. of 70-80% of the cementite. The surface is then cooled by increasing heat extraction to remove the superheat of the liq. phase. After this, it is again diminished while removing the heat of solidification.
