PURPOSE:To accomplish engagement of a direct-coupling mechanism without a shock by detecting the factor of slip of the direct coupling mechanism for mechanically coupling input and output members of a fluid transmission device and compensating output pressure of operation pressure control means by two stages for the strength. CONSTITUTION:In a direct-coupling control device, the operation pressure of a direct-coupling clutch Cd interposed between a pump impeller 2 and a turbine impeller 3 of a torque converter T is controlled by operation pressure control means Dc. The operation pressure control means Dc comprises a timing valve 50, a modulator valve 60, an idle release valve 70 and switch means 80 for switching the operation pressure by two stages for the strength. The switch means 80 is controlled by control means 100 according to outputs of a car velocity detector 102, an engine rev count detector 103 and a shift position detector 104. That is, the factor of slip of the direct-coupling clutch Cd is electrically detected, whereby the factor of slip exceeds a designated value, the switch means 80 is controlled in such a manner as to select a small engagement force. |
