A safety circuit is specified for triggering an initial detonator (9), in which circuit the power source (6) and the initial detonator (9) are located in separate circuits. The two circuits are coupled to one another via a component (8) which transmits energy only when alternating pulses are applied to it. The alternating pulses and the signal for triggering the initial detonator (9) are transmitted from a central control unit (2) via an optical fibre (1) and an opto/electrical transducer (3) to electronic switches (4, 5) which are located in both circuits. <IMAGE>
