The invention relates to a device for separating a conical container (A), for example a pointed paper bag, from a stack of such containers in an automatic drinks-dispensing machine. It includes a cylindrical holder (2) to receive the containers (A) in an upside-down position, a hollow separating element (25) which is provided at the lower end of the holder (2) and has an axial bore which tapers downwards and has a diameter which, at its upper end, is virtually equal to the outside diameter of the container opening which is pointing downwards and, at its lower end, is gradually reduced, and a container-removal mechanism (4) which is arranged under the holder (2) and has a tube (49) which is rotatable through 180 DEG about a horizontal axis and supports a sucker (48) at its upper end. The removal mechanism (4) is vertically movable for insertion of the sucker (48) into the lowest container in the holder (2), so that the sucker (48) is able to become attached by suction to the inside surface of this lowest container by means of a reduced-pressure device. When the removal mechanism (4) has been lowered, the tube (49) is rotatable about 180 DEG to align the container into the correct position. <IMAGE>
