PURPOSE:To prevent effectively a phosphated structure from rusting only during storage before coating by electrodeposition by treating the structure with an aqueous amine soln. CONSTITUTION:A structure to be treated such as an iron structure is treated with zinc phosphate, and it is immediately treated with an aqueous amine soln. having about 0.05-2.0wt% concn. without carrying out water-breaking. Dimethylmethanolamine or the like is used as the amine, and the structure is dipped in the amine soln. or sprayed with the soln. so that the whole surface is well wetted. By this method the phosphated structure can be effectively prevented from rusting only during storage before coating by electrodeposition.
