PURPOSE:To perform exclusive control over a shared file efficiently and reduce deterioration in the performance of a data processing system and system trouble by controlling the in-use state of a file device and registering the occupation execution order of the file. CONSTITUTION:A file controller 3 or 4 which receives read contents from an access controller 5 to a storage device tests the read contents to check whether a file device 6 or 7 is permitted to be occupied or not. When the occupation is permitted, the file controller 3 or 4 supplies an indication for starting the access controller 5 and occupation information on the storage device through a signal line 13 or 14 to occupy the file device 6 or 7. When the file device is in use and can not be occupied, an occupation resetting waiting state is registered in the file controller 5. Thus, the file device is occupied and the reference or update of the file is completed; and then data processors 1 and 2 are informed of the occupation resetting of the file.
