PURPOSE:To simplify improvement of tightness strength and soldering of a lead line by plating the terminal parts with nickel while making the electrode proper such as the cathode, electrode and a phosphor to be inserted into the upper and lower glass containers sealed through adhesive frit and the terminal parts to be separate bodies. CONSTITUTION:A component composed of the cathode 30 and a phosphor 31 are sealed-up through adhesive frit 38 in the glass containers 32 and 33, while a picture display device is finished having the inside as a vacuum. Of an electrode, an electron beam control electrode proper 34 and the control terminals 35, 35' for impressing voltage are made to be separate bodies, while the other electrode and a side terminal are also made to be separate bodies. The terminals 35 and 35', which are made to be separate bodies, are overall given non-electrolytic or electrolytic nickel plating 37. The film thickness of the plating 37 is made to be not less than 50mum, while the sealing parts 39 of the terminals 35 and 35' given plating are given chrome plating 40 followed by chrome oxide treatment 41. In this way, the tightness when sealing can be improved while simplifying soldering.
