SUPPORTING DEVICE FOR BLAST FURNACE SHELL

PURPOSE:To provide a supporting device for a blast furnace shell which can prevent excessive thermal stress and suppress generation of a crack when the shell is red hot as no ring girders, etc. are provided to the shaft of a blast furnace which has a steel frame shell type structure for supporting the furnace body by supporting the horizontal load of the blast furnace via the supporting members interposed between the upper shell of the furnace body and a tower. CONSTITUTION:This supporting device supports a blast furnace via the tension members 8 interposed between a shell 3 in the upper part of the blast furnace and the tower 5 by the tension force between the respective members. The members 8 are wire ropes or tension rods, etc. which permit adjustment of the tension force with each other. The attaching height of the members 8 may be any position as far as in the upper part of the blast furnace but the position within 1/3 from between the centroid of the furnace body and the uppermost part of the furnace body shell is preferable as the tensile force is small in said position. It is preferable to provide 6-8 pieces of the members in the symmetrical positions around the shell 3 as the adjustment of the tension force is easier.
