<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the breaking or chipping of a Zederberg type electrode placed in a tightly sealed electric furnace for manufacturing a ferroalloy after supplying electric current again by avoiding a sudden change in the thermal load of the electrode when the supply of electric current is stopped. CONSTITUTION:In a tightly sealed electric furnace for manufacturing a ferroalloy with a Zederberg type electrode, the electrode current is kept at 20-70% of the regular value >=2hr before the supply of electric current is stopped. During the stop of the supply, gas generated in the furnace is burned to adjust the temp. of the atmosphere in the furnace. The electrode is slowly moved upward until it reaches a prescribed position, and the electrode is repeatedly moved upward and downward by a fixed distance on the basis of the prescribed position whenever a fixed time elapses to adjust the surface temp. of the electrode.</p> |
