发明名称 MATERIAL FOR STORING HYDROGEN
摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in the hydrogen occlusion characteristic of an alloy material for storing hydrogen upon repetition of occlusion and release of hydrogen by coating the surface of said alloy material with a thin film of an amorphous metallic material which allows easy permeation of hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:A TiMn1.5 alloy as an alloy for storing hydrogen which occludes and releases hydrogen with a pressure difference at an ordinary temp. is melted and solidified then the alloy is disintegrated to about 20mm. square. Such alloy is attached in the substrate position of a device for vapor deposition by sputtering and is subjected to a sputtering treatment in an Ar atmosphere kept under low pressure in which a target formed of a Pd-Ag alloy is used, thereby forming a thin film an amorphous Pd-Ag alloy on the surface of the TiMn1.5 alloy. The thin film allows easy permeation of hydrogen and the smooth occlusion and release of hydrogen of the alloy is effected. The pulverization of the alloy for hydrogen occlusion then consolidation and consequent deterioration in the occlusion and release power of hydrogen are prevented by the presence of such thin film.
