NEW MATERIAL:The flavone derivative of formula I (R<1> is OH or lower alkoxy; R<2> is 1-14C alkoxy; R<3> is lower alkoxy; R<4> is OH, 1-10C alkaonyloxy, cycloalkylcarbonyloxy, benzoyloxy, lower alkoxy-lower alkoxy group, or phenyl-lower alkoxy; n is 1-3) and its salt. EXAMPLE:3',4'-Dibenzyloxy-6-n-hexyloxy-5,7-dimethoxyflavone. USE:A drug effective to inhibit the arachidonic acid 5-lipoxygenase controlling the biosynthesis of leucotriene. It is useful for the prevention and remedy of e.g. asthma, inflammation, allergy, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula V which is one of the compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II with the compound of formula III, subjecting the reaction product to the rearrangement reaction in the presence of a basic compound, and cyclizing the resultant compound of formula IV.
