PURPOSE:To deflect the flying direction of ink liquid drops at several levels by providing a charge deflection electrode and a modulation circuit adapted to vary the waveform of an excitation pulse signal to be applied to an electro-mechanical conversion element according to a recording signal. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic field is formed with an ink liquid drop charge deflection electrode 8 to deflect ink liquid drops by a value corresponding to the mass thereof. The waveform of an output pulse from a basic pulse generator 61 adapted to generate a pulse corresponding to one of the ink liquid drops is modulated with an excitation pulse waveform modulation circuit 63 by an output from a recording signal source 62 and applied to an electrode of a piezo-electric element 42 through an amplifier 64. |
