PURPOSE:To reduce blurring of printed images and staining of a paper and prolong the useful life of an ink ribbon, by a method wherein the width of contact between an ink-impregnated body and an ink-transferring roller is set to be equal to the width of a printing part of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:The width W2 of contact between the ink-transferring roller 4b, which transfers an ink from the ink-impregnated body 3 to an ink ribbon 2, and the ink ribbon 2 is set to be small and approximately equal to the total width Wp of a wire arrangement of the printing head 5, namely, Wp W2<Wr, wherein Wr is the width of the ink ribbon. Accordingly, an excess of ink is not supplied to upper and lower bands 2a, 2b of the ink ribbon 2 which bands are not consumed directly for printing. Accordingly, effects of reducing density variations due to blurring of printed images, staining of the paper with the ink and consumption of the ink can be obtained. |
