PURPOSE:To insert quickly a partition plate into the molten steel in a casting mold simply by rising a tundish by immersing a plate for preventing floating of the partition plate into the molten steel, pressing the partition plate under said plate and inserting the partition plate under the surface of the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:A tundish 7 and an immersion nozzle 8 are risen. The operator holding the handle 6 of a plate 5 for preventing floating approaches to one short side wall 9a in a casting mold and immerses the plate into a molten steel 11. When the plate is immersed therein, the handle 6 melts and at the same time the plate for preventing floating is solidified and fixed to serve as a stopper. The operator 10 holding the handle 4 of a partition plate 1 inserts diagonally the plate 1 from the other short side wall 9b side, right after melting of the handle 6, and inserts the top end of the plate 1 under the stopper 5 then the operator holds down the side near the operator by the handle 4. The handle 4 melts and the insertion of the partition plate is completed. The tundish 7 is thereafter lowered to immerse the nozzle 8 into the molten metal and the molten steel of a different steel kind is poured into the casting mold to resume continuous casting. |
