PURPOSE:To stablize plasma ignition by storing high voltage from a power source of a plasma ignition system in main and auxiliary discharge capacitors and changing the discharging time and energy of two capacitors to generate plasma discharge. CONSTITUTION:High voltage produced by a spark voltage generating circuit 2 is applied by an ignition timing control circuit 11 through a variable contact 3a and fixed contact 3b of a distributor 3 and a high voltage blocking diode 4 to a discharging gap of a plasma plug 10 to produce sparks. Then, a switching thyristor 12 is turned on by said circuit 11 so that charging voltage on main and auxiliary discharging capacitors 13, 14 is applied to a plut 10. Since a coil 7 is connected to a circuit discharged by the capacitor 13, discharge current having wave from larger than the max. value of main discharging current flows in the early period of spark discharge. Thus, the rise of discharging current of the capacitor 13 is stabilized to ensure the ignition of mixture. |
