PURPOSE:To obtain a printing head which has small size, high resolution, high speed and less power consumption by driving a printing wire by a bimorph drive element and empolying the disposition of the specific drive element and the array of bearing holes. CONSTITUTION:A printing wire 11 is slidably held at one end by a bearing 12, and secured at the other end to a bimorph drive element 13. The element 13 is formed by bonding two piezoelectric materials, the printing wire is driven by applying a print signal, and secured to a stationary member 14. A plurality of rows of holes which are directed perpendicularly to the moving direction of the carriage are provided in the bearing 12, and when the carriage is moved to print, the dot printing of the prescribed pitch is performed by the wires 11. When the voltage is applied to the element 13 in response to the print signal, the end is deformed, the wire 11 is driven toward the printing sheet, and character or image is printed on the sheet through a ribbon. |
