On a foldable guard-rail of a folding stepladder, locking in the high use position is ensured by the opening movement of the articulated rear legs of the stepladder by means of one or more catches g or connecting rods acting on the heel t of the guard-rail. The catches g or connecting rods integral with the rear legs engage preferably and without any limitation the base heels t of the guard-rail when opening up the stepladder. The catches release the blocking of the guard-rail when the underframe is closed. <IMAGE>
