The cable laying device has two deflection apparatuses (7, 8) for guiding the cable (6) when it is being drawn through a shaft (1) into an underground cable duct (2). Each deflection apparatus (7, 8) has a number of rollers (10) which determine the optimum line on which the cable is drawn in. The deflection apparatuses (7, 8) are detachably fixed to the shaft (1) at predetermined points. For this purpose, mutually associated attachment elements (11, 12) are fitted firmly to the deflection apparatuses (7, 8) and to the shaft walls (3). As a result of the precisely defined position of the deflection apparatuses relative to one another and relative to the cable duct, the deflection radius which is provided for the cable can be kept optimum so that said cable is not damaged while it is being drawn in. <IMAGE>
