PURPOSE:To attain efficient data compression by using a cyclic filter as a linear forecast filter to attain data compression thereby decreasing the amount of operation with simple hardware. CONSTITUTION:Information x(k) to be processed is inputted to a subtractor 7 and also to unit delay devices 1 connected in series for the plurality via a subtractor 6, and the output of each delay device is inputted to a multiplier 2 having coefficients a1-an and a multiplier 3 having coefficients b0-bm (n>=m). Outputs of the multipliers 2 are added (5) and fed to the subtractor 6, at which the result is subtracted from the information x(k). The output of the multiplier 3 is added (4) to form a signal y(k), which is subtracted from the signal x(k) at a subtractor 7 so as to obtain an error output signal e(k). Coefficients bi, aj of the multipliers 2, 3 are decided from an error e(k)=x(k)-y(k) so as to minimize E[e<2>(k)] by means of the least square mean method. Thus, the effective data compression is attained with simple hardware and less amount of operation. |
