Inspection of transparent receptacles for foreign bodies is carried out by passing a stream of spaced receptacles through inspection stations which are speced apart. At each station a light beam is passed through the receptacle and the resulting image is directed onto a light-sensitive device. The stream of receptacles is moved along a curved path about a central point, and illuminating means are provided at the stations on the outise of the curved path to illuminate the receptacles and direct an image of each receptacle radially inwards towards the centre. At the centre there is a stationery device for directing the images onto a common axis. The illuminating means are controlled so as to emit successive light pulses, and the light-sensitive device is mounted in a single scanner lying in the common axis for scanning the successive images.
|
