The sole section (12) of the boot or shoe (10) has a slit (13) extending in the longitudinal direction of the sole and ending at a distance from both ends. A manually operated ratchet mechanism (30) is provided in the shoe extending across the slit to hold the roller skating or ice skating fitment in place in the shoe base. Each roller skating accessory has an assembly plate having the general shape of the slit so that it can be held firm in the slit by means of the ratchet mechanism which extends through a bore and into the assembly plate.
