PURPOSE:To obtain a secondary battery whose self-discharge rate is remarkably reduced by applying plasma treatment to a high molecular compound having conjugated double bond in its principal chain and using it as electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:Plasma treatment is applied to a high molecular compound having conjugated double bond in its prncipal chain, and this compound is used as electrode active material. For example, polyacetylene is allowed to stand in an atmosphere of argon for two weeks, and it is punched in a disc and the disc is treated with an argon plasma reaction tube for five minutes. The treated discs are used for positive and negative electrodes, and electrolyte prepared by dissolving (C2H5)4NBF4 in acetonitrile is used to form a battery. By this treatment, oxygen adsorbed in the polyacetylene is removed and self-discharge of the battery is decreased. |
