For the distribution of warp threads, a stationary reed (1) and a rotating shaft (3) having plates (4a and 4b) fastened on it are provided. These plates form combs (5 and 6) on the shaft and extend helically. The plates (4a) of the comb (5) are mounted relative to the plates (4b) of the adjacent combs (6) in such a way that, during the rotation of the shaft (3), the plane of rotation (F) of at least one portion (14) of each plate (4a) of this comb (5) is offset along the shaft relative to the planes of rotation (E) of the plates (4b) of the other combs (6). This arrangement makes it possible for the warp threads to be retained in the position prescribed by the stationary reed. The quality of the fabric produced is thereby improved. <IMAGE>
