Pyrimidine derivatives(I), used as plant bactericides, are prepared from amidino hydrazine which has a chemical formula of Ar-CR1=N-NR2- C(NH)-NH2, through a reaction with β-diketone, which has a chemical formula of R3'-CO(CR4')-HCO-R5'. In the process, Ar = phenyl or naphthyl; R1 = lower alkyl, lower cycloalkyl, trifluoromethyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl, phenyl, or benzyl; R2 = H or lower alkyl; R3', R4', and R5' = H, lower alkyl, or lower alkenyl; or R4' = lower alkoxyl; or R3', R4', and R4', R5' = trimethylene or tetramethylene gp.
