The contact gel consists, per 1000 grams, of: 5 +/- 0.01 g of a carboxyvinyl polymer; 5 +/- 0.05 g of triethanolamine; 5 +/- 0.1 g of glycerol; 0.5 +/- 0.01 g of menthol; 0.3 +/- 0.001 g of 2,4,4%-trichloro-2%-hydroxyphenoxybenzene (Irgasan); 0.1 +/- 0.01 g of chlorophyll. The carboxyvinyl polymer and the ethanolamine form the gel base, with a pH of 6 to 6.5. The glycerol is an emollient and a stabiliser. The combination of menthol, Irgasan and chlorophyll confers on the gel antiseptic properties which are favourable for a good preservation.
