The invention relates to a hoisting device on scaffolding, with a cage consisting of two parts, a guide rail, running from bottom to top on the scaffolding, for the cage, a rope fastened to the cage, and a driven rope winch for the rope for moving the cage up and down. In order to be able to absorb a torque exerted by the weight of the cage and its load, provision is made for three rollers to be provided in the bottom area of the cage, of which rollers two, with axes of rotation parallel to the plane of the guide rail, act on a guide-rail spar near the scaffolding, while a third roller serving as a supporting roller acts with an axis of rotation perpendicular to the plane of the guide rail on the guide-rail spar remote from the scaffolding and directs the torque exterted by the cage into the scaffolding via the guide rail.
