PURPOSE:To facilitate forming of a tracking groove on the surface and to obtain an optical recording medium of heat modes with easy control of tracking by using a basic material formed by hardening, with activating radiation ray, a compound or composition which can be hardened with activating radiation ray. CONSTITUTION:There are various kinds of compounds that can be hardened by activating radiation ray, for examples, those that produce radicals and etc. by activating radiation ray and have polymerization or cross-linking unsaturated double bonds. Electron beam and etc. may be used for activating radiation, however, in order to penetrate the thickness of a basic material the use of ultraviolet ray is desirable. A writing ray is applied from the sides of the recording layer or the basic material as pulsed ray to the optical recording medium of this invention during its running or rotation. At this time by generation of heat from the coloring matters in the recording layer a self-oxidizing resin decomposes or thermoplastic resin or a coloring matter fuses to form pits. |
